Director of Human Resources

The Director of Human Resources is responsible for the strategic direction of the human resource department and the supervision of the HR Coordinator position.  This position works closely with the Director of Business Operations to promote a culture of continuous improvement and staff engagement throughout the company.

  1. Makes every effort to connect with staff on a personal level to include greeting them by name during company events.
  2. Manages staff recruitment strategy and establishes programs and policies to aid in the retention of staff.
  3. Works closely with universities to develop a consistent flow of high-quality graduates into the company.
  4. Ensures that company’s wages and contract rates are fair and impartial.
  5. Manages the performance evaluation system for compliance with TJC and Medicaid regulations and overall effectiveness.
  6. Assists as needed with screening, interviewing, reference checks and hiring of new staff in accordance with established policies and requirements.
  7. Responsible for new employee/contractor orientation. 
  8. Effectively communicates the company culture, values, and mission to new staff.
  9. Develops a structured onboarding process to include 30-, 60- and 90-day follow-up contact with new staff.
  10. Oversees the employee payroll process to ensure accurate and fair treatment of all.
  11. Manages employee benefit and compensation programs.
  12. Oversees staff engagement activities to include birthday cards, sympathy cards, flowers, potlucks, anniversary gifts, and volunteerism.
  13. Maintains a current, working knowledge applicable federal and state employment law. 
  14. Updates policies and procedures to remain current with business needs and practices and in accordance with federal and state laws and regulations.
  15. Investigates and resolves EEO grievances in collaboration with Director of Business Operations and legal counsel.
  16. Ensures that all independent contractors maintain liability insurance.
  17. Attends and contributes ideas in monthly Clinical Supervisors’ meeting.
  18. Prepares job descriptions for new positions and updates all other positions as needed.
  19. Works with HR Coordinator to develop and maintain a working Human Resource Strategic Plan which promotes and supports the overall strategic plan of the company.  
  20. Oversees the NHSC (loan repayment) program including site certifications and service verifications.
  21. Ensures unemployment claims are processed in a timely manner.
  22. Completes employment verifications.
  23. Conducts exit interviews of staff leaving the company to gather information that will be used to strengthen our staff retention.
  24. Other duties as assigned.

The Director of Human Resources needs to have a Bachelor’s degree from an accredited university or college in human resource or related field required. A Master’s degree from an accredited university or college in human resources or related field beneficial.
