Session 1 Learning Objections: Participants will
1. Learn how to provide Crisis intervention assessment and referral to acute treatment.
2. Learn how to identify high-risk patients for acute treatment and interventions for crisis stabilization.
3. Learn to establish therapeutic contracts such as ‘No Harm’ agreements.
4. Learn how to work with therapy-interfering behaviors and limit-setting with patients.
1:00-4:00 p.m. Crisis Intervention vs. Traditional Counseling: Understanding Their Purposes
and Differences

1. Develop an understanding of the history of crisis intervention.
2. Be able to define the purpose of crisis counseling.
3. Identify the difference in treatment planning for crisis situations.
4. Develop an understanding of the roles and collaboration between helping professionals during crisis.

Bios of Presenters:
Marc Wilson, Families, Inc. Walnut Ridge Clinical Supervisor, earned a Master of Science degree in Social Work from the University of Tennessee. Marc is licensed by the Arkansas Board of Social Work as a Licensed Certified Social Worker. He has extensive experience in working in inpatient and outpatient settings with high-risk patients. Marc has used Dialectical Behavioral Therapy skills with individuals, families, and groups. His experience has focused on depression, anxiety, and interpersonal relationship issues, chronic mental health issues, Borderline Personality Disorder, addictions, and eating disorders. Marc has completed course work in working with Crisis intervention and has developed educational programs for crisis intervention with other agencies and services. He has been providing master level internship supervision for over 4 years in a variety of disciplines.
Mrs. Lynda Nash, a Licensed Certified Social Worker (LCSW) and a Co-Occurring Disorder Professional, Diplomat Level (CODP-D) by the Arkansas Substance Abuse Board, has over 25 years of experience in the field of social work. She has worked as a school-based therapist, Division of Children and Family Services (DCFS) Supervisor, Director of Outdoor Education, and as a staff member with Arkansas State University (ASTATE) Social Work Department. Mrs. Nash has been the Director of the Beck PRIDE Center at ASTATE since October of 2013, but has been active with the center since its inception. She has worked with Families, Inc. on a part-time basis for the past twelve years, providing counseling services with an emphasis on trauma. Mrs. Nash has also worked at ASTATE with the Academic Partnership with DCFS in the support, training, and mentoring of new employees and as an instructor for 10 years.
